Maura Freund, MAT
After over a decade as an educator, I have seen many children and families struggle through trying to understand their child’s learning styles and how and where to find the best support. Often the jargon used by schools and teachers can be clouded and unclear. I am here to help you understand the bottom line and make a plan to support your child on their journey.
~ Maura, Academic & Executive Functioning Coach
Maura attended the University of Richmond where she received her undergraduate education in Leadership Studies. After earning her Masters degree in Childhood Education from Manhattanville College, Maura served as a Head Teacher in Greenwich, CT, New York City, NY and Alexandria, VA. Her unique experiences as a teacher, private tutor, and academic coach propelled her to expand her work at Integrative Therapy and Coaching.
When she isn’t working at Integrative Therapy and Coaching, Maura serves as a certified and practicing Learning Specialist at a private school where she coaches students, teachers, and parents on effective academic and behavior management strategies, executive functioning skills, and remediates literacy and math for students. Maura’s background informs her ability to meet the unique needs of a diverse set of students and their families.
After 14 years as an elementary school educator in elite private schools including St. David School in the UES and the Stanwich school in Greenwich, CT, Maura is most passionate about working directly with students and their families to achieve their full potential. She sees the advantage students gain when working with an Academic Coach and believes in the power of coaching. The confidence, organization, and planning skills gained equip students to conquer the demands placed upon them academically. A mother herself, Maura understands the importance and challenges around finding properly qualified professionals to support children of all ages.
“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.”
