Mental skills for Highschool student Athletes
A Confidential Group to Discuss High School Sports Mental Strength
Now Forming for Winter 2026!
Every athlete trains the body. Almost none of them train the part that decides how the race actually goes.
The mental side of sport is the difference between the practice performance and the meet performance. It is what holds up when you are behind, when you are hurt, when the coach benches you, when the season does not go the way you planned.
This is a six-week group for high school athletes who want to get better at that part. It is not sports psychology theory and it is not a pep talk. It is practice, with other athletes who are under the same pressure.
The Mental Game for High School Athletes
- Performing under pressure, and what to do when nerves take over
- Focus and routine, before competition and during it
- Setbacks: injury, benching, a bad season, losing your spot
- Who you are when you are not competing, and why that matters
- Team conflict, leadership and speaking up for yourself
- Values versus goals, and how to tell which one you are chasing
- Recovery, sleep and fueling as performance tools, not afterthoughts

Who is it For?
High school athletes in grades nine through twelve, across any sport. We are launching with a focus on winter season athletes, including swimming and water polo, but the skills transfer to any sport and any level.
This group is a good fit for the athlete who is talented and hard on themselves, who freezes when it counts, who is coming back from an injury, or who has started to wonder whether they still love the sport they have built their life around.
A Note for Parents
You can see your athlete working hard and still not know how to help. Most parents do not, because the pressure our kids are under now does not look like the pressure we were under.
This group gives your athlete somewhere to put it, with a licensed clinician and a small group of peers who get it. You are not being asked to diagnose anything or fix anything. You are being asked to give them a room.
