Our nervous systems are wired to protect us from reliving past hurts and experiencing future
harm. While this serves a vital protective role in our lives, it can also lead to maladaptive
behaviors and prevent us from finding peace in the present moment. Together, we can discover
what is needed for you to heal, to regain control of your thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors, and to
rewrite the narrative of your life.

Adolescent, Adult, Family & Couples Therapist

Eric Werner, LMSW, MST

Eric Werner is a licensed clinical therapist who works with adolescents, adults, couples, parents and families. He brings a rare combination of clinical training and educational expertise to his work. Eric holds two master’s degrees: a Master of Social Work from Simmons University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Pace University’s School of Education. Before becoming a therapist, he spent fifteen years in public and private school settings, partnering closely with families, coaches, colleges and teachers to help students achieve academic, social, and emotional success.

When working with adolescents, Eric’s educational background allows him to understand how students learn, how classrooms and school systems operate, and what it takes for a teenager to feel capable and connected at school. He is uniquely equipped to strengthen communication between students, parents, and schools, helping young people build resilience and find joy, success, and purpose in daily life.”

In his work with adults, Eric explores the interpersonal and biological roots of anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health challenges, helping clients build deep self-awareness and practical skills for everyday struggles. With families, he helps identify patterns of conflict and role confusion to strengthen bonds, foster empowerment, and build healthier ways of communicating. With couples, he supports partners in navigating the complexities of maintaining emotional and sexual intimacy while encouraging healthy individuation and personal growth.

Eric takes an integrative, individualized approach to therapy. He draws from CBT, DBT, IFS, RLT, trauma-informed therapy, narrative therapy, art and play therapy, and mindfulness. His work is grounded in systems, psychodynamic, and polyvagal theories, with particular attention to how relationships, attachment, past experiences, and environment shape the ways we respond to stress and move through the world.

Eric believes clients are the experts on their own experiences. He works collaboratively to identify strengths, develop insight, and create practical strategies that support meaningful and lasting change. His office is a space free of judgment, where connection, compassion, empathy, and acceptance are central.

Eric holds a BA in ethnomusicology from Wesleyan University, where he studied, played, and recorded music. Outside the office, he is a birder and avid nature photographer, follows international soccer, and reads science fiction.
